Let’s get straight to the point—FIFAe World Cup 2025 kicks off December 10 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It’s an official esports tournament, put on by FIFA and Konami, and it’s all centered around *eFootball*. You can go watch it live there, or stream it globally.

This year's qualifiers already show how big the event is right now. A total of 16.51 million players took part across 90 countries and regions. Only 12 national teams reached the final stage, and these teams now compete in both PC and mobile divisions.

On PC, each team has three players and follows a 2v2 format. On mobile, it’s a straight 1v1 setup. Players from 12 different countries make up the final list. They will go through group matches first and then move into the knockout rounds. The tournament keeps everything easy to follow: groups, eliminations, and one champion at the end.

12 national teams made it through those regional qualifiers. They’ll fight for the title in two categories: Console and Mobile. Here’s the breakdown:
- Console Category: Played on PlayStation (5/4), Xbox (One/Series X/S), or Steam. Teams go 2v2.
- Mobile Category: iOS or Android. It’s 1v1, so it’s just you vs. the opponent.

Konami also prepared an in-game event for eFootball to go with the tournament’s opening. Anyone who logs in during the event period gets special items for free. There is also a daily giveaway of player cards from a featured roster. Another part of the event is the “Squad Challenge Event,” where players can finish simple tasks and get more rewards. This event runs from December 4th to December 18th, 2025.

The game has been updated to match the tournament theme. The new update adjusts balance, adds new systems, and changes some details in gameplay. One of the new additions is “Advice,” a tool that reads how the player behaves in a match and gives feedback right away. It works like quick coaching inside the game.

Another new part is “Analysis,” a feature that looks at the last 10 PvP matches and organizes data into clear charts. It also compares the player’s style with others from Division 1 to Division 4, making it easier to understand what actually happened in previous games.

The update also adds Ronald Koeman’s Link-Up Play. Koeman’s “Aggressive Cross A” link-up makes the Key Man move into the box when the Centrepiece has the ball. It increases the accuracy of crosses, passes, and even finishing in that play. Along with this update, two new Epic player cards—David Beckham and Jan Koller—are available from December 4th to December 11th.

Other improvements are already active in the game. These include:

  • Auto-Control, which lets the AI handle the match when the player stops controlling it.
  • Adjusted speed and acceleration for defensive players, reducing the big gap with faster attackers.
  • Smoother acceleration for tired players, so late-game control feels more stable.
  • Updated “Defensive Awareness” so players with this stat can mark better even with less acceleration.
  • Fans can also earn up to 2,500 eFootball Points by watching matches through the official viewing page.
